The Cathedral of the Future

At noon, I meet Arnd and his grad student, Christian, in the atrium of Wilson Hall, the futuristic high-rise that towers over the collection of otherwise unimposing, squat sheds that cover the Fermilab grounds. Neither of them remembers what the shape of it is supposed to mean. Christian thinks it might be a magnet; Arnd is reminded of the T-bar symbol for the top quark, which was discovered at Fermilab.
