A Good
Bet
Nicholas Seeley unregistered
WASHINGTON – At least one Connecticut legislator
should be bringing home some pork this week -- Tennessee
ham, in fact.
Sen. Christopher Dodd said Wednesday that he had had
a bet going with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist,
R-Tenn., on the outcome of Tuesday’s NCAA women’s
basketball championship match between the University of
Connecticut and the University of Tennessee. When the
UConn Huskies walked away with their 73-68 victory, Dodd
won the ham.
Had things gone the other way, Dodd said, he would
have had to send Frist a brace of lobsters.
Joe Lieberman also mentioned the Huskies on the
Senate floor, calling their victory over Tennessee’s
Lady Volunteers a triumph of faith, as he sought backing
for his bill on faith-based initiatives.
